Skillet-
Collide (2003,
Ardent)
While Skillet's most recent release set the Christian
rock scene on fire, their 2003 Collide album is by far their
best effort. A
raw, energetic, and epic album , Collide featured such hits as
Savior, Collide, Under My Skin and A Little More. What catapults this
album into classic status is the powerful lyrics and John
Cooper's passionate vocals. An album for the ages,
Collide should remain powerful for years to come.
Honorable
Mention
Hawk
Nelson- Smile, It's the End of the World (2006, Tooth and
Nail)
Canadian punk
outfit Hawk Nelson had already won the hearts of adolescent
girls with their first release, Letters to the President. Their sophomore effort
saw them grow by leaps and bounds. Up-beat anthems like
“Bring 'Em Out” and “Is Forever Enough” were tempered with
mellow songs like “Everything You Ever Wanted” and
“Zero.”
While Smile... brought some necessary maturity to Hawk
Nelson's songwriting it remained fun and
energetic. |
